Today is the day 1 at Scintilla with new tax structures. Since Scintilla deals with Apparels, it has two different tax slabs - 5% GST for item below Rs. 1000 and 12% for item above Rs. 1000. It was not that hard for us to transition from VAT to GST except that the POS we were using needed to be tweaked a bit.
Right now, one is not sure about the impact of GST on inflation but the government has consistently maintained that the GDP would increase once the nation transitions to GST.
I started my day with a positive note - 1st day of the month and 1st day after GST roll out.. Slight corrections on the POS to add CGST and SGST took a bit of time with the POS help desk but it went on smoothly..
I had a customer asking "Am I GST eligible?" I was not sure about the query but I told her that Scintilla was GST ready from 30th mid night :) The day went on well with out any questions on GST but I was telling my customers about the break up on GST based on the item value :)
Because of the flurry of offers given by big brands and E commerce sites, people kept asking just one question "Is there any offer going on?"
